Virtual Mystery Challenge a Success!

For those who participated in prior Mystery Challenges, going Virtual was something new. We had hoped to be live, but when COVID started once again to spread, we opted to go virtual. We were, in essence, prohibited from gathering. In determining an event theme, Prohibition seemed a logical way to go.

Goody bags to participants contained all the makings of a special Mystery Challenge cocktail, named “Sweet Memories.” Expert mixologist Peter Agostinello led us in making a Prohibition-era cocktail. Rabbi Matt Cutler of Congregation Gates of Heaven shared witty anecdotes about Jewish gangsters during the prohibition era, with an emphasis on the Albany area.

A “Day in the Life” video showed the impact of donor support on our residents at both Daughters of Sarah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Massry Residence.

Finally, the NYC Trivia League, the outfit that operates trivia contests at more than 70 NYC bars as well as online games, led us in a rousing trivia competition. Broken into 7 teams, each had to answer questions about music, New York State landmarks, movies, and more. Several questions about Daughters were included as bonus questions! (Do you know the age of our oldest resident? See below for the answer.)

You can see our welcome video here.

To all who supported the event, thank you! Be sure to save the date for next year’s Mystery Challenge – Saturday, November 19, 2022.
